The third objective of the ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship is to raise awareness of both doctoral and postdoctoral research. Public engagement activity aims to develop a change in perception about how self-tracking information is used and an understanding of the unintended effects that self-tracking information from devices can have on people who run.
Public engagement activities planned in this project are public talks, podcasts, blog posts about the projects and a professionally produced video about self-tracking research and running.
Information about public talks given about the effects of data on runners' health and behaviour is available at the link above.
The Decoding Digital Fitness podcast was launched in January 2024 to understand how self-tracking is used in physical activities like running.
A three minute video in September 2024 will be the result of a public engagement project working with a Sheffield City creative partner, Human Studio.
