Each year the Department awards the Harry Kay prize (Harry Kay was the Department’s first Professor of Psychology) for a piece of original work in psychology to four finalists in the four main research areas (Social, Cognitive, Neuroscience and Developmental). Projects are nominated by staff and the Examinations Board then makes the final selection. The names of the students are posted online and the winning projects are highlighted for future students in Blackboard.
The Marples prizes are named after six sisters who dedicated their lives to charity work within the local community. The building that once stood where the department is now located was for many years their home and inspiration. These prizes are awarded to our top three finalist students in recognition of their own dedication and their outstanding overall performance. The names of the winning students are posted online.
The top ranked student will also receive the BPS Prize from the British Psychological Society.
A prize is awarded to the student with the highest mark within each stream at levels 1 and 2. These prizes are awarded once annually following publication of results in July.
All prizes awarded, are listed on the student's HEAR Report
