Whilst you are a student, you will have opportunities to evaluate the quality of your programme of study and its individual modules via the University's Tell US Survey system. Student evaluation is an essential part of assuring the quality of departments’ provision and provides us with essential feedback on your experiences of your programmes of study.
The university will inform you of the purpose and process of student evaluation, including how and when it will take place and what will be done with the results.
They will ask for comments on your experience of each year level as a whole, in addition to commenting on individual modules following each semester.
At the end of your programme, you will also be asked to comment on the programme as a whole.
We will endeavour to provide you with feedback on the issues that students have raised through the evaluation process and how we are addressing these.
It is important that we receive a good response rate to student evaluations, as your feedback is an essential part of helping us to maintain the quality of teaching and learning provision, and may benefit you and future students.
Quality reviews of departments’ teaching and learning consistently demonstrate ways in which student feedback often does lead to changes being made to units and programmes.
Changes are regularly made as a direct result of student feedback. In the past, module credit has been increased, additional reading material supplied, different forms of assessment undertaken, changes to feedback supplied etc. This is your chance to make a difference both for yourself and future students.
In addition to the Tell US student evaluation operated by the university, you may also be asked to participate in other surveys throughout your study.
National Student Survey (NSS)
Final year students take part in the National Student Survey (NSS), which seeks views from students on their overall satisfaction with their programme of study.
The results of this survey are published annually and prospective students may base their decision on these comments.
