Psychology Employability
For specific careers advice for Psychology students please check out the ‘FCP Psychology Careers Area’ folder in your module list on the Blackboard site.
This is a great resource full of information on careers in psychology, careers outside of psychology that are popular with psychology graduates and information on taking a placement year. It also provides information on how to apply for a masters or PhD.
Keep an eye out for the employability email which will arrive in your inbox every two weeks – it’s packed full of information on careers events being hosted by the department or careers service and includes many volunteering/placement/job opportunities specifically tailored to psychology students.
You will also be invited to a number of psychology specific events across the course of the year, these events include information sessions on applying for a masters, a panel session with chartered psychologists and information on careers outside of psychology.

Develop your skills using mySkills
mySkills is an easy to use online tool to support your understanding of your skills and manage your personal development. It will help you set development goals, record activities and become more self-aware through regular reflection. You will be introduced to mySkills through your Research Methods tutorials, PT sessions and Intro Talks.
