London Mathematical Society
Summer School 2023
University of Sheffield
16th - 28th July

The LMS Undergraduate Summer School is an annual two-week event, hosted by UK universities and supported by London Mathematical Society. This year, the school is organised by the University of Sheffield. The main aim of the school is to introduce different topics of modern mathematics to the undergraduate students and encourage them to further study for a PhD degree in Mathematics.

The school will have seven mini-courses, six colloquium talks, and eight PhD student talks covering various fields of mathematics. In addition, we will put on a talk on PhD's in mathematical sciences delivered by Sheffield's Director of Postgraduate Research.

For more information please contact lmssummerschool@lms.ac.uk or check the London Mathematical Society Summer School.

Funding bodies and sponsorship

The Summer School is generously supported by the London Mathematical Society. The University of Sheffield has supplied physical and online facilities for this event. The Applied Probability Trust is providing administrative and organisational support for the school.

The London Mathematical Society (LMS) is the major UK learned society for mathematics with a national and international membership of over 3,000. Founded in 1865 for the promotion and extension of mathematical knowledge, the LMS was granted a Royal Charter in 1965. The Society's main activities include publishing journals and books, providing grants to support mathematics and organising scientific meetings and lectures. The Society is also involved in policy and strategic work to support mathematics and the mathematics research community. This work includes engaging with government and policymakers on mathematics education and research, participating in international mathematical initiatives and promoting the discipline.
