General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
Place, Craft, and Alcohol in Historical Perspective is a research project that involves collecting and analysing oral histories and interviews for the purpose of documenting local history and understanding the alcohol industry in Sheffield. This document sets out the data protection policies associated with methods of data collection involving human participants.
Expression of interest form
The Expression of Interest Form is used solely for registering participants' interests in the project. In compliance with GDPR, this statement explains how your personal data will be collected, processed, and stored when you submit an expression of interest to participate in Place, Craft, and Alcohol in Historical Perspective. By submitting this form, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this GDPR statement and consent to the processing of your personal data as described.
Data collection and use
Data Collected: We collect personal information such as your name, contact details (e.g., email, phone number), and any other information you provide through this form.
Purpose: The data collected through this form will be used exclusively for the purpose of contacting you to provide further information about the project and, where applicable, to arrange interviews and follow-up communications related to your potential participation in the research.
Access: The data collected through this form will be used and accessed exclusively by researchers in Place, Craft, and Alcohol in Historical Perspective. This is stored within the University of Sheffield’s encrypted cloud storage. Data will not be transferred outside of this remit. The University of Sheffield is identified as the Data Controller for the project.
Legal Basis: The legal basis for collecting and processing your personal data is your explicit consent, which you provide by submitting this form. You may withdraw this consent at any time. The project is a task carried out for public interest.
Data retention
Your personal data will be retained only for as long as necessary to carry out the research and fulfil the purposes stated above, or until you withdraw your consent. If you choose not to participate in the project after expressing interest, your data will be securely deleted.
