Finishing and completing when you can’t
All sessions include a facilitated mentoring hour followed by an optional informal social space. You are welcome to attend the first hour only if that works better for you.
Book your space via MyDevelopment by clicking below.
The location for each of these sessions is the Belonging Building 210 Portobello.
Thrive Together is a group mentoring programme for postgraduate researchers who identify as disabled, neurodivergent, having specific learning difficulties (SpLDs), chronic conditions, or long-term mental health diagnoses. It offers a calm, supportive space to connect with others who understand the realities of undertaking a PhD alongside health, access needs, and fluctuating energy.
The focus is on shared experience, reflection, and connection, rather than advice-giving or performance.
We warmly invite disabled postgraduate researchers and colleagues who support PGRs to help spread the word.
Each session runs for two hours and is structured in two clear parts:
Hour 1: Guided group mentoring
Facilitated by a specialist mentor
Focused on one clear theme
Gentle, discussion-based format
Multiple ways to participate: listening, speaking, or contributing in writing
Whole-group discussion, followed by smaller groups, and a relaxed wrap-up
Hour 2: PGR-led social time (optional)
Informal, peer-led space
Light, no-pressure activities
Refreshments provided
Participants can stay for as long or as little as feels comfortable
You are very welcome to attend only the first hour if that works better for you.
