School of English Peer Coaching Programme
Welcome to the School of English Peer Coaching Programme!
About the Programme
The School of English Peer-Coaching Programme is a brand new personal and professional development programme for undergraduate students at all stages of their degree.
Over a period of 12 weeks, students will undertake:
Training in the methods and practice of non-directive coaching, delivered by professional accredited coaches
Workshops and supervision to support students on their coaching journey
Paired reciprocal peer-coaching partnerships, so that all participants get the chance to practise and hone their coaching skills while also benefiting from being coached by their partner.
Previous studies of undergraduate peer-coaching programmes in UK, American and Canadian universities have shown how peer-coaching improves students’ academic performance, self-confidence, wellbeing, motivation and employment/leadership skills.
We will undertake a robust evaluation of our programme to better understand the impact and effectiveness of our model of reciprocal peer coaching. We aim to identify learning for other practitioners and institutions seeking to develop peer coaching opportunities for students in the higher educational sector.
