Application for the school is open to all. However, as the course content is intended to go beyond the basics of crystallography it may be more suitable for later-stage PhD students and postdocs. Resources will be made available one month in advance for less experienced participants to get up to speed with the foundational concepts (e.g. symmetry elements, matrices). Prospective applicants are welcome to contact the organisers in advance if further clarification is required. Furthermore, the course will be taught in English and candidates should therefore have a good understanding of written and spoken English.
The school will commence at 1pm on Monday 11th July 2022 and will end at 3pm on Thursday 14th July. Participants are expected to attend for the full duration. To get the most out of the course it will be taking place in person, and unfortunately no remote option is available.
There will be a poster session on the second night, and all participants will be expected to provide a poster.
The total course fee is £330. This includes accommodation at Cosener's House for the nights of the 11th/12th/13th July 2022, and all meals/refreshments during the course.
The course will commence at 13.00 on Monday 11th July 2022 and will end at 3pm on Thursday 14th July. Accommodation will be provided for the nights of the 11th/12th/13th July 2022.
A limited number of rooms are also available for the nights of 10th or 14th July. As these will be prioritised for those with exceptional circumstances (e.g. restrictive travel arrangements) a brief justification for the request of this additional accomodation is required in case of high demand.
The school is limited in number to 40 participants, so it may not be possible to accept all applicants. In submitting the application form you are applying to participate but are not yet guaranteed a place. After the submission deadline (17th May) all applications will be considered and the places allocated. Places will be allocated to maximise representation from different research groups, fields, backgrounds etc. Those accepted onto the course will be contacted and asked to pay the course fee by 30th May.
We want to make the course accessible to all. To support participants with limited access to funding (e.g. junior research fellows, those from groups led by early-career academics) some subsidised places may be available. Please contact the organisers directly if you would like to discuss this further.
