WELCOME TO THE PASQUINA LAB
In our lab we use Biophysics tools to explore the wonders of biological systems, mainly Bacteria. If you are passionate about understanding fundamental questions of Microbiology using interdisciplinary research this is going to be a great place for you.

The main tools we use are microscopes, both unique techniques such as AFM and STORMforce or more common approaches like optical fluorescence and super-resolution fluorescence microscopes such as STORM. We have achieved the best resolution ever in any technique of the cell wall of Streptococcus pneumoniae, which is our primarily bacteria of study.
The biophysicists in our group and part of our collaborators then spent most of their time using and creating Open-source Image Analysis tools to analyse our microscopy images. These tools are easy to use by everyone, from Biologists, chemists and physicists to computer engineers.
