This project has now received it final approvals and I can start to officially recruit people! So far, I have been contacting local Parkinson's groups across the South Yorkshire region, as well as other individuals based in other areas of the country. I will be advertising this online too, but keeping this to a minimum on social media (feel free to ask me why).
If you or someone you know is interested in joining this project, please let me know and feel free to share the project details and this website with them, or give us a text or a call on 07841802138 and leave a message.

This project has now received ethical approval from the Health Research Authority (HRA) which is great news! However, the project can't formally start and begin recruitment until all the approvals have been set up and it has been given the 'green light' by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Sheffield. This process may take another month or so, but it looks like recruitment could start a little earlier than planned.
In the meantime, I am continuing to write up an interview-based study that I recently completed, and working with current Community Advisory Group members to review some of the results and help me interpret them.
In the Autumn, I will also be starting to work with a local designer, to develop some activities to use in the first part of the project. I will be looking for Community Advisory Group members to feedback on these, before they are used in the project, to make sure they are suitable for use.

The project protocol and all associated documents e.g. participant information leaflets, consent forms, recruitment posters, has been submitted for NHS Research Ethics Committee (REC) review, and has been reviewed by a committee. I have had some comments back and suggested changes, prior to the REC issuing their final opinion on whether to grant this project ethical approval. These changes will be submitted by the end of August, and hopefully I will hear back soon after that whether this project has been given approval, or needs further review.
