Group overview
The Optoelectronic Devices and Spectroscopy Group (ODSG) is a multidisciplinary research group based in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Sheffield.
Our vision is to surpass current solar energy conversion limits by pioneering next-generation photovoltaics. To do this, we elucidate and manipulate photophysical processes across all relevant length scales – from atomic defects to full device architectures. We work across the boundaries of high performance device development and understanding, materials engineering and advanced spectroscopic techniques. This multidisciplinary approach allows us to identify the design rules for next-generation optoelectronic devices, directly addressing the urgent societal need for affordable and abundant renewable energy.
