Bian Yanes
Hi, my name is Bian. I am helping to organise sponsorship for the NECB. I am a research technician and a part time PhD student at Rainero’s lab. I work on investigating the role of the extracellular matrix in breast cancer metabolism. I hope you have a great time in Sheffield and enjoy the NECB this year.
Elena Rainero
I’m Elena, a lecturer and group leader in the Molecular and Cell Biology cluster in the School of Biosciences at the University of Sheffield. Our research focuses on understanding the role of the extracellular matrix in controlling cancer cell migration, growth and metabolism. I’m looking forward to welcoming you all to Sheffield!
Helen Matthews
I’m Helen, a research fellow in the Molecular and Cell Biology cluster in the School of Biosciences at Sheffield. My lab studies cell shape and mechanics in pancreatic cancer. I’m looking forward to hearing about all the fantastic science happening in the North at the NECB!
James Birch
I’m James, responsible for website design at NECB 2023. I’m a PhD student interested in the early stages of neuroblastoma initiation and development. Using human embryonic stem cells as a model I study the activity of key high risk neuroblastoma mutations in neural crest development. I look forward to seeing you at the NECB conference!
Mona Nazemi
I am Mona. I am responsible for organising the abstracts and preparing them to be assessed and selected for poster/talk. I am a research associate at the University of Sheffield, School of Biosciences. I am working on the effect of the extracellular matrix on breast and pancreatic cancer cells’ metabolism. I hope you all enjoy your time at Sheffield.
Rachele Bacchetti
I am Rachele. I am helping to organise the logistics for the event. I am a PhD student at Rainero’s lab, working on understanding the effect of extracellular matrix dysregulation on ovarian cancer cell migration and invasion. Looking forward to seeing you all and I hope you enjoy the NECB forum and have a great time exploring the city.
Victoria Hart
Hi, my name is Vic. I am helping to organise sponsorship for the NECB. As a member of the Helen Matthew’s lab I study how the oncogene kRas impacts cancer cell survival and migration/invasion in pancreatic cancer. I look forward to welcoming everyone to the NECB!
Vincent Chan
My name is Vincent. I am helping to design the graphics for publicity materials. I am a PhD student in Emma Thomson’s lab at the School of Biosciences in Sheffield. My research focuses on functionally specialised ribosomes in human pluripotent stem cells. I look forward to meeting you at NECB!
