I am broadly interested in how we can use first-principles reasoning to better understand and control microbial ecosystems. Generally this involves mathematical and computational approaches to understand how simple rules at the micro-scale lead to the emergence of more complex phenomena at observable scales. These theoretical approaches are then integrated with experiments to validate predictions.
