Maker activities
Parents and carers who are able to have been doing a brilliant job in supporting children’s learning whilst in lockdown. There are many excellent resources to help them, such as the BBC’s Bitesize website, the Oak National Academy and YouTube’s Learn@Home.
Staff in the University of Sheffield’s School of Education have been active in supporting this work, and have developed a series of ‘maker activities’ which provide ideas about how to engage in fun maker activities that foster science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) learning.
The activities are available as downloadable pdfs and include easy-to-follow resource lists and instructions. The team will continue to release a few activities a week whilst schools are in lockdown.
They resources been developed by the Maker{Futures} team, which is a team that leads the School of Education’s innovate research and practice on making and makerspaces.
