Microbial Ecophysiology Lab

PI - Ian Lidbury - Royal Society University Research Fellow

The lab is focused on linking microbial ecophysiology with ecosystem services to advance our fundamental knowledge and develop applied solutions to key global issues, such as food security and climate change.

We combine classical molecular microbiology with meta-omics to understand the major bacterial players reminerlising organic matter in soil.

Our main interests are investigating polysacchride and organic phosphorus turnover in the plant microbiome and the plant-microbe interactions this metaoblism underpinns.

Research Interests

Structure-function relationships of unique phosphatases

Genetic basis of Flavobacterium rhizosphere competence

Soil polysaccharide turnover

Phosphonate metabolism in the environment

We're always looking for enthusiastic people to join our group.

Home students - NERC, BBSRC DTPs
