Maths and Statistics Skills Audits
Available through Blackboard course MAS161. This will be available until the end of week 2.
This Skills Audit has been put together with the purpose of informing and empowering you to take action and seek the support you may need with some of the Maths and Statistics content of your course. The skills audit and the MASH team will help you with the "what" you need to focus on and the Study Skills team may well also be of use in the process of "how" you can structure your learning approach.
If you would like to refresh your mathematics skills and knowledge, why not take a look at the Transitions Resources? They've been specially created for students to revise some of the key topics that they will encounter as part of their courses at the University.
Browse a host of local and independent businesses from across Sheffield selling vintage clothing, plants, and books, as well as discovering places to eat, relax, and have fun around our fantastic city. We’ll also be sharing information and tips about navigating our city and discovering hidden gems!
We are inviting you to attend the department’s Race and Consent Conversations workshops. These one-hour workshops are peer-led by our Diversity Champions and are aimed to equip all students with information on support services available at the University and practical intervention tips as active bystanders.
You are expected to attend both sessions as part of your induction activities in your academic department.
Trigger Warning - please note that these workshops contain information and discussion around sexual violence and racial discrimination. You are welcome to leave the session at any point if you feel uncomfortable and are encouraged to contact support@sheffield.ac.uk if you would like support.

Description: Cover key topics of sexual consent: what the law and university policy says, what consent is, how to identify consent, and information on healthy relationships. These concepts are then discussed by students through a number of scenarios. The session finishes with students learning more about being an active bystander and how to effectively support their peers.

Description: Race Equality Conversations are aimed to explore race and racism, particularly racial inequality in the UK. The session will include examples of privilege, microaggressions as well as reflective and interactive questions on diversifying the curriculum and tackling difficult conversations. We will also discuss practical intervention tips, equipping our students with skills to safely intervene and protect themselves and or the victim(s).
Prior to this session we highly encourage you to view the following video, as it will provide you with an initial understanding of race and racism in the UK. We will then explore the topics covered in the video further in our workshops. Racism - We need to think differently (5 minutes).

Sheffield Engineers Rugby Football Club is one of the fastest growing amateur rugby clubs in Yorkshire. Since the club was founded in 2013 by students from the University of Sheffield, there have been over 200 members, both past and present. We currently field 2 men's teams in competitive fixtures every weekend in the Yorkshire RFU leagues. We also occasionally field a developmental 3rd team who play against other teams from the University of Sheffield. The men's section is open to all abilites.

Academic Representatives are volunteers recruited by the Students’ Union who work with their Department to co-create student-led change based on student feedback. Academic Reps volunteer until the end of the academic year, with the option to renew their role every year.

Engineers Without Borders aims to remove barriers to development through appropriate technology, and focus on sustainable technology. It's not just for Engineers - anyone is welcome to join! We run lots of amazing projects here in Sheffield and are part of a charity, EWB-UK, who organise international projects - including student placements.

GEMSoc aims to widen participation in engineering for everyone by providing opportunities to get involved with engineering events.
