The INVITE study

INcorporating Voice actIvated communication aids inTo Everyday communicaton

October 2024 update - We are currently recruiting health professionals involved in communication aid provision and support. See Phase 2 tab for more details.

Developments in Speech Recognition Technology have led to apps which can learn to recognise a set of words or sounds spoken by an individual with dysarthria, and connect these with a clear spoken output, known as Voice Input Voice Output Communication Aids (VIVOCAS).

This study aims to find out more about who will benefit from this technology, how they will use it, and what support they need to use it.

This will help to ensure that the people who could benefit from this technology get the chance to try it, and get the support they need to use it.
