At the Hackathon, you will be presented with real-world problems shared by industry experts. These will take place on Day 1 of the Hackathon (7 April 2025). You will then have a few days (Day 2-4) to work in a team to provide a solution for your chosen problem. You will present your solutions on Day 5 (11 April 2025).
You will work in a team to provide a solution for the problems. Your solutions can be of any type - whether a data-driven solution (e.g. dataset analysis, visualisations or web application) or a design-based solution (e.g. prototype of a mobile app, redesigning paper tickets). The only thing that matters is your creativity, collaborative spirit and problem-solving skills!
The Hackathon event aims to bring together students from multi-disciplinary backgrounds. During the first day of the event, you will get an opportunity to meet students from other faculties so you can develop a multidisciplinary team. Whilst you can bring some friends who you would like to work with, we also encourage you to get to know other students from different disciplines at the event and include them in your team.
We strongly encourage you to work collaboratively with your team members in-person during the Hackathon event. We have booked a computer lab in The Wave for the duration of the Hackathon. We will also provide free lunch for all the registered Hackathon members.
Yes! We understand some employers would like to see evidence of extra-curricular activity and we will provide a certification of participation for all participants.
