Smart meter data is available from all UK DNOs who have made it available.
GridLive focuses on making available the time-series smart meter data published by UK Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) from a single source. As of September 2025, all publicly available data is included within the GridLive database.
Included datasets:
National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED)
Aggregated Smart Meter Data - LV Feeder (Supported by NGED Open Data)
Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN)
Smart Meter LV Feeder Usage (ESA locations derived from public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0)
UK Power Networks (UKPN)
Smart Meter Consumption - LV Feeder - note, at this time only a sample data set has been made available by UKPN (Supported by Northern Powergrid Open Data)
Northern Power Grid (NPG)
SP Energy Networks (SPEN)
SP Electricity North West (ENW) smart meter data is not yet available. Currently it is on the SP ENW - Dataset Roadmap for 2025 Q3, after which it can be incorporated into GridLive.
The smart meter data as published by the DNOs does include Electricity Supply Area (ESA) metadata and this metadata has also been made available.
