How to get to the University of Sheffield
The nearest major airport is Manchester Airport (MAN), offering flights to multiple international destinations. From Manchester Airport, you can reach Sheffield by train in approximately 80 minutes, with one change required. Another convenient option is Birmingham Airport (BHX), which is around 90–100 minutes away by train, also requiring one change. Other nearby airports include Leeds Bradford Airport, Liverpool John Lennon Airport, and East Midlands Airport. However, note that these airports do not have railway stations, so travel by bus or taxi will be required.
Those flying into London airports will most likely need to travel to London St Pancras International train station. The journey usually takes 40–90 minutes, depending on the airport and the mode of transport chosen. From St Pancras, there are direct trains to Sheffield, which take about 2 hours. Advance booking of tickets is recommended.
From Sheffield train station, it is approximately 2 km to the University of Sheffield's Hicks Building, which is the venue for the meeting and houses the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. The walk takes about 25-30 minutes and passes through the city centre. Alternatively, trams (blue route) run every 10 minutes and have stops near the train station and Hicks Building, offering a convenient alternative to walking.
