On 17 July 2025 we were delighted to co-organise a workshop with one of our core project partners, Sheffield City Council, on the topic of Responsible AI in Local Government. As well as FRAIM research, the workshop featured research from the Public Voices in AI project (funded by RAi UK), with presentations from the Ada Lovelace Institute and the People's Panel on AI.
This full-day event featured input from key stakeholders in local government throughout South Yorkshire and aimed to create new visions and roadmaps for ensuring responsible use of AI in local government in South Yorkshire and the wider UK.
Denis Newman-Griffis, project lead for FRAIM, presented in the BRAIDxIDI seminar series at the University of Edinburgh, jointly organised between the Bridging Responsible AI Divides (BRAID) network and the Innovative Design Institute. The presentation highlighted emerging findings and key synergies from FRAIM and the Research on Research Institute GRAIL project.
We had the pleasure of working with Blast Theory as FRAIM artists in residence, curated by Data as Culture at the Open Data Institute. In December 2024, Blast Theory launched Constant Washing Machine, a new work that invites people who work with AI to connect the good habits of everyday washing to ‘Responsible AI’ practice.
Hannah Redler-Hawes, curator-researcher with FRAIM and Open Data Institute (ODI) Associate: Director and Curator of Data as Culture, published in Science Museum Group Journal's Autumn 2024 issue on the future of AI and museums.
Denis Newman-Griffis published in Royal Society Open Science on a new competency-based framework for AI in practice, drawing on insights from the FRAIM project (co-supported by the Research on Research Institute GRAIL project)
