Community

Would you like to join a community to discuss and advocate for more inclusive usability testing? If you would like to see more inclusive design we would love to hear from you. You may be a user of products and services, a creator of products and services, a usability researcher, an advocate for underrepresented groups or have a passion for the topic. If you would like to help shape the discussion please fill in this short google form or email Sophie Rutter s.rutter@sheffield.ac.uk and join our community!

Participatory events

During March, April and May 2022, we will be holding online and in-person (Sheffield) participatory events (interviews, focus groups and round table discussions). At these events we hope to identify challenges and potential solutions for embedding equality, diversity and inclusion in usability testing. In particular we would like to hear from people who are underrepresented in usability testing, charities, usability professionals and organisations that require or do usability testing. If you might be interested to take part and would like more information please email s.rutter@sheffield.ac.uk or complete the google contact form.

For the interviews and focus groups we would like to speak to people who feel that their needs and requirements are not typically captured by the design of products and services, and information resources. Interviews and focus groups will be held during March and April, and will take last approximately 1 hour.

For the roundtable discussion we would like to speak to (1) charities and organisations that advocate for those who are not usually represented in usability testing (2) organisations that conduct user research (3) anyone who feels that their needs and requirements are not typically captured by the design of products and services, and information resources services. The roundtable discussion will take place online (Zoom) and last approximately 1 hour but may extend by an additional hour depending on the depth of discussion.
