Professor Rebecca Lawthom,
Head of School, School of Education
Welcome to our Alumni newsletter from our new, enhanced School of Education.
Global challenges have made the year unpredictable and difficult at times, but this issue showcases just some of the good news stories we have enjoyed. This year, we have merged three former areas into one large School of Education. This has reinforced our commitment to social justice as Foundation-level mature students progress onto 44 different degree pathways (across the University). Learning is a relational activity, and whether, educating learners who are new to Higher Education, or those who are doing doctoral level work, we are talking about humans and relationships at the centre. Our prizewinning activity in teaching, impact and student support is testimony to a commitment to working in partnership to secure positive outcomes for students and communities. We have welcomed global students onto our programmes and watched them progress onto degree programmes or flourish into graduates, postgraduates, teachers, Educational Psychologists and other forms of Doctorates. We benefit from partnership work ranging from the local to the global.
Enjoy the newsletter, and please do reach out to share success, offer an opportunity or want to reacquaint with your former community of learners. In the Global North, we are about to embark on another academic cycle, and this always feels like a space for reflection and hope.
We are wishing you well, wherever you are.
