Do more in the Diamond
What is Diamond+?
The Diamond contains the University of Sheffield's engineering teaching laboratories, which you can find more about here.
The Multidisciplinary Engineering Education team (below) run a range of great timetabled labs across these facilities as part of your course.
But what if you want to do something more, like:
Work on an undergraduate or postgraduate project?
Use lab facilities for a co-curricular activity you are involved with?
Work on an idea of your own that's not directly related to your studies?
Expand your skills and knowledge in a particular area?
Then you've come to the right place!
What would you like to do?
We run a number of clubs and workshops where you can learn a new skill or hone your existing skills. Currently, these include:
Access to most of our lab equipment outside of classes can generally be arranged with the technical or academic staff in each lab, providing it can be used safely and fitted around timetable requirements (including lab setup and turnaround times). If you know which lab you want to access, you can find details of who to contact here: https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/engineering/diamond-engineering/our-facilities/
The page for each lab has a section entitled Request Use of Equipment which should give details of who to contact. If you're not sure or you don't get a reply, email diamond-lab-support@sheffield.ac.uk.

Join a Student-Led Project
Taking part in a student-led project is an exciting opportunity to apply your engineering knowledge and work with students from different disciplines. It is an extracurricular activity, so it takes place outside of your degree, but it is a great way to meet new people, develop your engineering skills, and can be a compelling addition to your CV!
