Some of the dissertation projects I've supervised over the last years.
Ethan Holloway, under my supervision, has developed a satnav system for tourism.
Say you need to drive from a place to another, but you have more time at hand than strictly required, and you'd fancy visiting a historic place and having lunch in a pub on the way.
By connecting appropriate sources, this Daytrip planner will propose you several routes satisfying your constraints, enhancing the trip you have to do with the things you like to do.
Than Htike Zaw, under my supervision, has developed a gig tracker that uses constraints you specify both on music genres and on transportation.
You may for instance favour gigs that take place on Friday or Saturday evenings, and no more than 45 minutes from home by public transport. This software will list them for you, by connecting appropriate data sources.
Dissertations of Pavat Poonpinij and Ali Gasimzade, in collaboration with Dr Jonathan Taylor (Sheffield 3D Lab), Dr Benjamin Rea and Dr Huey Tan (both Sheffield Teaching Hospitals), and Dr Daniele Tartarini (University of Sheffield).
We worked on liver MRI images collected in Sheffield on patients with polycystic liver disease (PLD). Our goal was to meet an unmet need: working towards the automation of cyst contouring, counting, and classification in PLD, so as to assist radiologists in this heavily time-consuming task.
We plan to keep working on this line even now that the dissertations are over.
