Sepsis - Our modern day Thanos
Avengers assemble - we have a crisis on our hands, sepsis. The world's most proliferent killer. Recent publications place sepsis with a kill count out of approximately 11 million in 2017. This number has continued to grow year on year. Sepsis is a critical condition that arises from an imbalanced immune response to an infection. It is most commonly caused by bacterial infection and requires intensive medical care as the first port of treatment.

Orangutans - Medical Experts
A wholesome story of an Orangutan figuring out the healing properties of a plant to help treat a wound on their cheek! This is one of the first recordings of a non-human animal exhibiting such behaviour with a medicinal plant, and it has scientists very excited about our evolutionary ties with the primate. Perhaps humans and orangutans are more similar than we thought...

No fear! BMSSoc offers plenty of activities and gives you the chance to meet others! You'll be able to get advice from older years and bestow your own wisdom to those newer to the course. Alongside socials, BMSSoc also offers study tips and resources.
BMSSoc socials range from sober hangouts, e.g crafts, movies, to bar/pub crawls ending with a club-night ticket. They also host yearly trips abroad, such as to Prague and Lisbon in recent years. Also occurring annually are the Winter and Summer balls - joined by quite a few of our lecturers too!
