Timothy O'Farrell (FREng, Senior Member, IEEE) is Chair Professor in Wireless Communication at the University of Sheffield, UK. He received the PhD. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from The University of Manchester. Tim is recognised for his research expertise in waveform design for wireless communications systems, software-defined radio, energy-efficient radio system design, and radio access network modelling. He has published extensively on these topics with over 335 journal and conference papers, book chapters, patents, and technical reports for industry. He has led over 26 major research projects, and cofounded a start-up company. Tim led the UKRI Research Strategy Community Organisation in Communications, Mobile Computing and Networking (CommNet2) and he is participating in the DSIT funded YO-RAN project as part of the Future Open Networks Research Challenge. He has chaired numerous tracks and workshops in IEEE ICC, VTC, and PIMRC. He is a Chartered Engineer and an IET member. He is the director of the UKRI National 6G Radio Systems Facility, a director of the mVCE, a member of the UK Government DCMS College of Experts and a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
Timothy Hill (Member, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree from the 5G Innovation Centre at the University of Surrey in 2020, and has also worked in industry for companies such as Qualcomm and Filtronic. He joined the University of Sheffield in 2024. In addition to the 6G facility operations, he is keen to combine his millimetre wave experience with novel baseband techniques to demonstrate new technologies.
