Science

Year 8 Science introduces students to further scientific concepts and skills that will allow them to describe and explain everyday phenomena.

Course Focus

• falling and flying; the motion of objects and basic force ideas
• physical and chemical properties of a range of materials
• microorganisms, harmful and helpful
• independent scientific investigation; Science and Technology Fair
• electricity; simple circuits and static electricity
• astronomy; components of the solar system and developing an appreciation of the distances between them
• investigate aspects of light; reflection and refraction, colours and colour mixing
• students choose an area of Science they wish to investigate and are able to earn Science badges
