Mathematics
The Mathematics curriculum is designed to provide a coherent, vertically aligned progression of mathematical understanding and skills that builds conceptual knowledge, procedural fluency, and problem-solving ability from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8. Grounded in the Diocese of Knoxville Mathematics Standards, the curriculum emphasizes a balance of conceptual understanding, skill development, and real-world application.
Instruction is organized around key strands—including number and operations, algebraic thinking, geometry, and measurement and data—that intentionally build upon one another across grade levels. Vertical alignment ensures that mathematical ideas introduced in the early grades are deepened, connected, and applied with increasing sophistication, preparing students to think critically, reason quantitatively, and communicate mathematical thinking with clarity.
