The Myriah Laure Durand Foundation, launched on November 29, 2024, is dedicated to improving access to healthcare, culture, and education for all children. Its initiatives include hosting community consultation campaigns, organizing conferences for parents, and leading discussions with adolescents in the North and Northeast regions. The Foundation also supports educators at CIS Petit Anse by covering their salaries and offering tailored pedagogical training. Additionally, it plays an active role in collecting clothing and essential goods to assist underprivileged children in Petit Anse.
Dr. Harold Durand, a Cap-Haitien native and highly trained physician, founded the Vertières Medical Clinic in 1989 after years of advanced medical and development studies in Haiti, France, and Switzerland. The clinic remains a vital healthcare institution in northern Haiti, offering essential services and providing 25 permanent jobs. Dr. Durand also leads a public-private initiative at the Balan dispensary, strengthening community healthcare through collaborative models. His work reflects a lifelong commitment to sustainable medical care and regional development.
This summer, Sharing Blessings to Others (SBO) is partnering with these local organizations to bring hope and healing to Cap-Haïtien through our Mobile Clinic Outreach, delivering essential healthcare, from medical checkups to hygiene education directly to underserved neighborhoods.
Dr. Lunie Valmyre, a compassionate and experienced General Practitioner, to our growing healthcare initiative in Cap-Haïtien. Dr. Valmyre earned her medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine at Université Lumière in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where she studied from 2011 to 2019. She currently serves at Divine Mercy Hospital in Morne Rouge, Cap-Haïtien (5 years), and the Idadée Hospital Center (CHIDA) in Balan, Cap-Haïtien (2 years).
With a strong commitment to serving marginalized communities, Dr. Valmyre has actively participated in mobile clinical outreach missions across underserved regions, offering vital medical care to individuals in remote locations who often lack access to basic health services.
This summer, Dr. Valmyre joins our Mobile Clinic Outreach, bringing hope and healing directly to neighborhoods in need providing everything from routine checkups to hygiene education. Alongside our medical efforts, we’re cultivating tomorrow’s leaders through our vibrant Summer Camp program, which fosters STEM exploration, literacy, and youth leadership development.
Dr. Harold Durand is a distinguished Haitian physician, educator, and community leader from Cap-Haïtien whose career spans continents and decades. He began his medical and sociological studies in Haiti at the State University of Haiti (UEH). He then advanced his expertise in surgery at Université Claude Bernard in Lyon, community health at the University of Geneva, and development sciences at IUED in Switzerland. He also participated in WHO seminars on maternal health, immunization, and HIV/AIDS.
Upon returning to Haiti in 1989, Dr. Durand dedicated himself to uplifting his hometown. He founded the Vertières Medical Clinic, which generated 25 permanent jobs and provided critical care to the local community. Through a public-private partnership, he took charge of the Balan public dispensary and led mobile outreach efforts that served isolated regions with maternal education, youth health services, and community care.
Passionate about diaspora engagement, Dr. Durand founded key organizations in Switzerland including Haïti Culture and Action pour les hôpitaux haïtiens (AHH), which have delivered over ten containers of medical supplies to hospitals in Haiti. He also advocated against anti-Haitian stigma in Europe, amplifying the voices and dignity of his fellow Haitians.
In Cap-Haïtien, his leadership continues to shape public health and development. He serves as President of GRAHN–Cap-Haïtien, Vice President of GRAHN–Haiti, and Secretary General of the Northern Chamber of Commerce. He leads agri-industrial and environmental initiatives, mentors youth in entrepreneurship and tourism, and serves as President of the Alliance Française.
His educational legacy includes founding quality institutions such as Les Parents Réunis, Centre d’initiation scolaire (CIS), and the Centre technique polyvalent de Vertières, while also serving as university president and professor. Dr. Durand champions education as a pillar of Haiti’s future.

Dr. Harold Durand fils is a dedicated Obstetrician-Gynecologist, jurist, and public health advocate whose work spans clinical care, legal insight, and community development. He began his academic journey at the Université Notre Dame D’Haïti and the Faculty of Law, Management, and Economic Sciences in Cap-Haïtien. Currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Health at the Université Adventiste D’Haiti, Dr. Durand continues to expand his expertise to better serve the Haitian population.
