Facilities Projects/ Updates

Welcome to the Wilson School District Facilities Projects Site.


In 2018, the Wilson School District contracted with Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates to conduct a District Wide Feasibility Study. The purpose of the study is to provide the District with a comprehensive report to use as a valuable resource for long-term decision making about the District’s educational facilities. The report provides enrollment projections as well as important information related to the current condition of school building facilities and outdoor athletic facilities.


As a result of this study, we have taken some steps forward to begin the planning process for a major construction project at our High School. This project will entail a new Performing Arts Center, including a new auditorium, black box theater and classroom and rehearsal spaces. In addition, the renovation will include a new cafeteria for our students, will connect the lower and upper houses, and will provide for improvements to the High School baseball and softball field complex.


In addition, the study revealed a projected increase in enrollment. We are already seeing the increased enrollment at our elementary schools. Therefore, we recently began discussions about Phase 2 of our future expansion project, which includes a new elementary school and a comprehensive renovation to Southern Middle School. To address the immediate need to reduce the number of students at three of our elementary schools that are at or over capacity, the District is engaging in a "right-sizing" project. You can learn more about that project here.

Current Update--April/May, 2022

At the April 18, 2022 meeting of the Wilson School Board, the board voted to reject the bids for both the High School renovation projects and the fields project. District administration will develop a timeline for next steps to present to the board for consideration.
