The Wilson School District has been assessing and monitoring enrollment over the past few year and we have come to a place where it has become necessary to address the overcrowding in our elementary schools.

Temporary measures, such as using portable classrooms, helped manage enrollment increases to some extent. However, we now find that constructing a sixth elementary school is essential to meet the educational requirements of our students.

Following an extensive exploration of options for constructing this new elementary school, we have concluded that building a cutting-edge facility on the Lincoln Park property owned by the District is the most advantageous choice for all stakeholders involved. Therefore, in August 2023, the Wilson School Board authorized Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates to embark on the schematic design phase for the new Lincoln Park Elementary School and the investigative processes for design development.

In March, 2024 the School Board authorized the next stage of the design process. Since that time, we were presented with a revised timeline for both the Lincoln Park and Southern Middle School Project.  See below for an update on that revised timeline as well as a visual representation of the project key dates.

We anticipate that the school will be completed in late spring or early summer of 2027. This revised timeline indicates that the school will likely be ready for opening in the 2027-2028 school year.
