Textbook: We will not be using a traditional textbook. Our curriculum, Illustrative Mathematics, is an excellent open-source resource, and all materials will be accessible online. You can find family support resources and the "Open-Up" curriculum materials here:
A significant part of our lessons involves engaging hands-on activities, collaborative partner work, and dynamic class discussions.
Calculator:
While not strictly required, having your own TI-30XIIS calculator is highly recommended for use in class and at home. It's a valuable tool we'll use frequently.
This calculator is commonly available at Walmart, Target, and Amazon.
I do have a classroom set of calculators available for students to use when they are in the classroom.
For use at home or during study halls, the Chromebook calculator is sufficient. Additionally, the Desmos Calculator is an excellent online tool accessible from any device with internet.
What to Bring to Class Daily:
Pencil
3-ring binder with notebook paper
Chromebook (fully charged)
Your best effort! This includes a positive attitude and a willingness to try problems, learn from mistakes, and keep trying!
