About Me

My name is James Schalk. I am entering my 8th year of teaching  5th grade at Whitfield Elementary School. 

I received both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Scranton. I previously taught 3rd grade in New York City (In the Bronx about 6 blocks from Yankee Stadium if you're a baseball fan) and 4th grade and Title 1 Reading in Susquenita School District (just outside Harrisburg, PA) for a total of four years.   

My family has lived in Sinking Spring for the last 9 years. Our two boys Owen and Nathan both attend Berks Catholic and Wilson High School here within the district. We love spending our time with friends and family, especially doing outdoor activities (sports, pool, playground).
