Anthony (Tony) B. Deininger has been in public education since the 2008-2009 academic year. Tony returned to his Alma Mater Reading High School and served as the Director of Bands for the 2008-2009 school year. He then taught at Governor Mifflin for seven years, from 2009-2016, where his duties included marching band, concert band, and jazz band, as well as co-teaching a humanities class and teaching music theory and at Schuylkill Valley High School in Leesport, PA, from 2016-2024, where his teaching duties include concert band, marching band, and jazz band, as well as music theory. Currently, Tony is the a middle school band and music teacher at Wilson Southern Middle School, in the Wilson School District.
Tony graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education from Temple University in May 2008. In August 2016 he graduated summa cum laude from West Chester University with a Master's of Music Degree in Music Education with a Music Technology Concetration and a Music Technology Certificate. Currently, Tony is working on obtaining an Instructional Technology Specialist Certification and a Online Instruction Endorsement.
Tony's primary trombone teachers were Eric Wagner, Paul Bryan, and Matthew Vaughn. As a performer, Tony has played with Nitzan Haroz, Matthew Vaughn, Paul Bryan, Shachar Israel, Tyrone Breuninger, Sarah Chang, Terell Stafford, John Faddis, Frank Wess, Carla Cook, Dana Hall, Bruce Barth, and Derek Hodge to name a few. He has also performed under the direction of Anthony Maiello, Dr. Steven Peterson, Dr. Timothy Oliver, Arthur Choderoff, Dr. Jack Stamp, Dr. Stephen Gage, and Terell Stafford. Locally, Tony performs frequently in pits for local musicals and with the Bravura Brass Quintet.
When not teaching nor performing music, Tony coaches enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. His daughters are very active and keep the family very busy - from music lessons and concerts, to water polo, swimming, and softball. Tony also coaches softball for his daughters travel and Wilson Youth Softball rec teams, and serves as the Treasurer of Wilson Youth Softball.
Tony currently is a member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association and the National Association for Music Educators. Tony currently resides in Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Mandy, and daughters, Morgan and Mackenzie.
