Mission:
Whitfield Elementary will provide a comprehensive school counseling program that equips all students with the knowledge, skills, and mindsets needed for academic, social/emotional, and career success, empowering them to create their own future, in partnership with families and the community.
Classroom Instruction is given, at minimum monthly to all 3rd-5th grade Whitfield students. Lessons and curriculum that students receive are part of at least one of the following categories:
Academia
Career Readiness
Social/Emotional Development
Small groups are typically 6-8 weeks long and are coordinated around core curriculum instruction. Small groups have a handful of students and address a common area of growth for those individuals. Group topics are chosen annually based on common student needs.
Individual School Counseling is brief, solution focused support for Whitfield students. Typically students are met with in times of heightened stress, critical life changes, or other scenarios that may impede on a student's academic success. School Counselors do not provide consistent therapy but do have the resources to connect you and your student to licensed therapists for increased support.
