COUNTING/FINE MOTOR- Play-Doh

The clay can be used to form shapes or sculptures for fine motor development.  It can also be used for counting, sorting or letter formation.

CUTTING/FINE MOTOR- Scissors

Start with simple straight lines to check fine motor control.  You can advance this with more complex shapes or smaller pieces.

SORTING- Pattern Blocks

If students can identify shapes and colors they can start sorting.  The blocks can also be used for counting, and or picture creation.

Children often start with a whole hand grip.  This video shows how to move to a pinched grip for crayon or pencil.
