Our initiatives provide a way for students to interact with society and fulfill personal goals through committee and volunteer groups. Several Key Club fundraisers and initiatives, such as our fundraisers and positiviTEA campaign add to the welcoming sense of community at OSA. Key Club also collaborates with several organizations to help the wider community around us. These initiatives resulted in a total of approximately 170 volunteer hours in 2020-21.
We organized a fundraiser for the Edmonton Food Bank through the Mustard seed company. This schoolwide fundraiser included the help of many of our club members and raised over $a.
Partnered with the Strathcona Seniors Center to organize our students and send them out on their spares to shovel the driveways or do other outdoor work at the homes of seniors who had signed up for the service.
Organized a fundraiser through the Mixing Spoon, a company that sells jars of soups, cookie dough, and brownie mixes for the Mustard Seed, a charity that combats homelessness and poverty. Raised over $250.
Ran online afterschool programs once a month for this school, organizing a new and engaging activity each month for the students attending.
Sent volunteers to the Edmonton food bank (joint with Jasper Place) to sort boxes, build hampers and do warehouse work, approximately three or four times over the course of the year.
Partnered with Jasper Place Key Club, we collected performances from Key Clubbers to create a Key Club talent show for the seniors. The gala was shown in all of Edmonton Capital Care Homes.
Created 48 cards to send to Capital Care Seniors Homes to cheer up residents during the winter holiday season.
Fundraised by selling OSA Key Club T-shirts designed by a club member to buy a goat for a family of need. We were able to buy 1 goat ($80), which Plan Canada matched with 4 other goats.
Began collecting positive content to post during quarantine, including encouraging videos of teachers, introductions to peoples pets, etc. Campaign lasted a month and included the creation of a Key Club playlist.
Organized a waffle sale in the front foyer as a general fundraiser to finance further club projects. Raised $75 after reimbursing members for supplies.
