For the week of May 20, 2024
A Message from the Principal
Terriers: Please review the information below regarding what a student should do if he/she has information regarding something detrimental to the school or a student and is afraid to report it in person.
SpeakOut 800.423.TIPS: SpeakOut Hotline is designed to help you anonymously report any threatening behavior or situation that endangers you, your friends, family, community, or your school campus. Reporting isn't "snitching,” reporting is when you need to keep yourself or someone you know safe from threats, harmful behaviors, or dangerous situations. By guaranteeing a caller's anonymity, SpeakOut allows the caller to give information without the fear of retribution.
FortifyFL (App): FortifyFL is a suspicious activity reporting tool that allows you to instantly relay information to appropriate law enforcement agencies and schools’ officials.

School Operations
Senior Obligations: Seniors with obligations must pay these prior to receiving their graduation tickets, regalia, and participating in the Senior Breakfast on Monday, May 20. Please contact Ms. Desjardins with questions about obligations.
Senior Breakfast and Campus Walk: On Monday, May 20, at 9am, seniors will meet in the cafeteria for the Senior Breakfast. All seniors should attend breakfast and participate in the final campus walk. This will be followed by a MANDATORY graduation practice in the auditorium at approximately 10:30am. All seniors are required to attend graduation practice! Seniors will receive reader cards during the meeting and will need to know their address to fill out their card.
Reminders for Graduation, May 21: Gates open to seniors and spectators at 5:30pm. Seniors enter through the Attendance gate; spectators enter through football gate near Auditorium. Seating is on both sides of the field. Please be respectful of special needs seating in the first rows.
Parking - All parking for seniors and spectators is in the front of the school. We highly recommend carpooling due to limited parking spaces! Please drop off your senior, if possible. Handicapped parking is located in the north lot by the Auditorium (handicapped decal required for entry to this area). The south area by the softball field will also be open for parking. Note: After the ceremony, TPD will direct all traffic south on US-1 to expedite clearing the parking lot.
Rain plan - Bring both rain tickets in the event of evacuation due to inclement weather.
Senior dress code - Slacks, dress shirts, ties (preferred but optional), dresses, skirts, blouses - no jeans, strapless, or visible midriff. Shoes - No spiked heels, flip-flops, crocs, slides, or slippers. Permitted footwear - Dress shoes, nice sneakers, flats, sandals, wedge heels only.
Only THS regalia permitted.
Decorated caps are prohibited.
Sale of graduation tickets is prohibited.
Air horns and other noisemakers are prohibited.
Diplomas - Only seniors can pick up diplomas in the Auditorium immediately following the ceremony. Congratulations Class of 2024!
Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Parent Survey: Each year, the Florida Department of Education surveys parents of children with an Individual Education Plan (IEP) to determine how well districts and schools are partnering with parents. All states are required to collect this information under IDEA. If you are the parent of a student with an IEP, please complete the survey by June 30, 2024 by opening this link: bit.ly/2024parentsurvey.
Campus Entry: As part of a security enhancement initiative, the district recently installed doorbells that must be rung prior to entering the school. Please be prepared to show an ID prior to being buzzed in. We ask that you share this information with your student’s emergency contacts.
Florida Kid Care: Millions of Florida children from birth through the 19th birthday count on Florida KidCare for affordable, high-quality health and dental insurance. With year-round enrollment, the time to apply for Florida KidCare is anytime, and it’s easy and free to apply! Apply online at www.FloridaKidCare.org or by calling 1-888-540-KIDS (5437).
Free/Reduced Lunch: The Free and Reduced Lunch Application for the 2023-24 school year is now available in several different languages! NO-GO list- Please be advised that if a student is suspended he or she will be placed on the NO-GO list for the quarter in which the suspension was received. Students are also placed on the NO-GO list for obligations.
Attendance Compliance Reminder: We are conducting attendance compliance exercises to help improve tardiness prior to the next testing window. Please speak with your student about the importance of attending class on time. Students who do not attend class on time will face disciplinary consequences.
Early Dismissal Reminders - BPS Board Policy 5230 relates to the early dismissal of students. As has been stated in the THS Student Handbook for many years, please be aware of the following procedures for student check out:
Emergency Check Out - The emergency contacts you provided during registration are only for emergencies. This means that if an emergency occurs and the custodial parent/legal guardian is NOT able to check out the student, the Attendance Clerk will contact the custodial parent/legal guardian to verify that the student may be released to an emergency contact. The emergency contact must present valid identification to check out the student. Students will NOT be released to individuals not listed on the emergency contact list; please update this information if necessary.
Non-Emergency Check Out - For the safety of our students, only the custodial parent/legal guardian may check out students. As stated in the Student Handbook for the past several years, if a parent/legal guardian cannot check out a student, students must bring a doctor, court, or parent note that includes the date, time, phone number of parent/guardian, the emergency contact who will check out the student, or which grants permission for students who walk/drive to leave. Students should give the note to the Attendance Clerk by 9am (or upon arrival at school). The clerk will call the parent/guardian to verify the request. Without a written note, only the parent/legal guardian will be permitted to check out the student.
If your phone numbers/email address have changed or you need to add emergency contacts, please contact the Front Office by Friday, November 17 to update your information.
Breakfast Hours - The cafeteria is open from 8:00am - 8:40 am every day. Students who eat breakfast should proceed directly to the cafeteria when they arrive on campus. Students who arrive on campus after 8:40am will not have the opportunity to get breakfast from the cafeteria.
Food Deliveries - Students and parents may NOT have food delivered to school. Any food delivery to school will be turned away. It is a violation of our school safety plan to have food delivered on campus or passed to students through a gate or fence.
Cell Phone Referrals - A reminder that cell phone referrals DID NOT start over in January.
After the third referral, students may be suspended from school.
