Cambridge AICE = Advanced International Certificate of Education
Cambridge AICE program is an advanced academic program offered solely through Cambridge Assessment International Education, a division of the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England -- an institution that consistently ranks as one of the top five academic universities in the world
AICE provides a flexible curriculum with a global focus that is offered worldwide to more than 8 million candidates at schools and colleges in over 160 countries
Like AP and IB, Cambridge AICE courses - also known as the British AS and A Level courses - allow students to study college-level material on the Rockledge High campus
Students in the Cambridge program study curriculum designed by Cambridge Assessment for one academic year. At the end of that year, students take an examination based on the curriculum they studied. These examinations are designed by Cambridge Assessment to provide students with an opportunity to showcase their learning in that subject. The examinations are then graded by examiners from Cambridge Assessment in England. Students who earn a passing score on the examination earn college credit.

The Florida Legislature has identified Cambridge AICE as a graduation option and an acceleration mechanism through which students can be awarded up to 45 hours of college credit at all public universities and colleges in Florida
A passing score on a Cambridge AICE exam can earn students at least 3 college credits at all Florida public universities and colleges, as well as credits at universities and colleges around the country
Cambridge AICE courses are equivalent to those of Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) and the AICE program offers students one of the most demanding and rigorous college preparatory programs in the world
AICE not only prepares students to get into a university with up to a potential 45 hours of college credit already earned, but it also provides students with the skills required to be successful once there
Students earn college credit for each AICE exam they pass
Students can work towards the distinguished and internationally recognized AICE Diploma
Students do not have to pursue the AICE Diploma in order to take AICE classes at RHS; any student who wants to work at the AICE level – even for one class – has the opportunity to do so
All AICE and Pre-AICE courses strictly follow a course syllabus that is designed by Cambridge Assessment International Education
The Cambridge program offers students flexibility to choose a course of study that best meets their abilities and interests. Students determine which courses they want to take and are able to create a schedule of courses that are relevant to their future goals.
For students who earn an AICE Diploma, it is an automatic qualifier for the highest level of the Bright Futures Scholarship (with the completion of the required community service hours)
With the minimum SAT score requirement for the standard route to earning the highest level of the Bright Futures scholarship requiring students to earn a 1340, the AICE Diploma provides a route that will challenge students academically and prepare them for college while still allowing them the opportunity to earn the highest level of the Bright Futures Scholarship
The highest level of the Bright Futures Scholarship (The Florida Academic Scholar Award) will pay for the full cost of tuition and applicable fees plus $300 each semester to help cover additional expenses
RHS is a Cambridge International Demonstration school
Anyone planning to attend a four-year university or to enter the world of business will benefit from studying this broad and balanced curriculum and the skills that they will gain from it
RHS started the AICE Program in 2005. In our most recent testing session, our overall exam pass rate was 61%. Since its inception at RHS, over 1,000 students have earned their AICE Diploma.
The typical AICE Diploma student leaves RHS with more than 24 college credit hours, and many finish with enough coursework to complete their first full year of collegiate study.
