Graduation Requirements
1003.4282 (f) Requirements for a standard high school diploma.
(f) One credit in physical education. —Physical education must include the integration of health.
One credit in physical education is required. H.O.P.E. (Health Opportunities through Physical Education) satisfies this requirement, with the following waiver exceptions:
To waive the required 1 credit for Physical Education, students must participate in an interscholastic sport at the junior varsity or varsity level for two full seasons and complete the necessary forms with their school counselor. (It should be noted that students choosing this option meet the requirement but do not receive course credit).
To waive the required 1 credit for Physical Education and the required 1 credit for Performing or Fine Arts, students may participate in 2 full years in JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps), which involves a significant component of drills, and must successfully pass the course.
