The McNair Music Program is a comprehensive program which includes over 100 students between 7th and 8th grades. The program offers classes for orchestra, chorus, and band.
The McNair Ensembles perform in multiple events throughout the year including, but not limited to:
Fall, Winter, and Spring Concerts
MPAs
Solo & Ensemble performances
The program benefits from outstanding parent and administrative support. Emphasis is placed on the individual student musician, with the understanding that every student is important.
Eric Olsen will be the band and orchestra director going into the 2021-22 school year. He is a graduate of Florida State University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music education. While pursuing his degree, he was a member of the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Orchestra, Swing Machine, and Marching Chiefs. He served as the Staff Manager for the Marching Chiefs in 2018.
Previously, Mr. Olsen taught at McLane Middle School in Hillsborough County, and interned at Freedom High School in Orange County under Dr. Michael Antmann and Charlene Cannon. He has also worked with many High School marching bands throughout the state including Freedom HS (Orange County), Horizon HS, and Lincoln HS - to name a few. He is an active member of the Florida Bandmasters Association, Florida Orchestra Association, and Florida Music Educator Association.
