Steve Dembo
A pioneer in the field of educational social networking, Dembo was among the first to realize the power of blogging, podcasting, Twitter, and other Web 2.0 technologies in connecting educators and creating professional learning communities.
Steve Dembo served for ten years as Discovery Education’s Director of Learning Communities and led their Innovation and Strategy team. He is the co-author of the book Untangling the Web: 20 Tools to Power Up Your Teaching. The National School Board Association named him one of 2010’s “Twenty to Watch,” a list honoring individuals finding innovative ways to use technology to increase classroom learning. In 2013 he began serving the Skokie/Morton Grove District 69 as a member of the School Board. Dembo is a course designer and adjunct professor for Wilkes University where he serves as class instructor for the Internet Tools for Teaching course within the Instructional Media degree program.
Steve Dembo is also a dynamic speaker on the capabilities of social networking, the power of educational technologies and Web 2.0 tools, and the ability of digital content to empower teachers to improve student achievement. He has delivered keynotes and featured presentations at dozens of conferences globally including ISTE, TCEA, FETC, MACUL, GaETC, METC, CUE, ICE, TEDxCorpus Christi, #140Edu, EduWeb, .EDU and the Social Media Masters Summit. Dembo was also a featured panelist at Nokia Open Labs as an expert on mobile device integration in education.
Tom Daccord
Tom Daccord is CEO and Co-Founder of EdTechTeacher. An educational technology speaker, instructor, and author, Tom has worked with schools, districts, colleges and educational organizations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. He has presented on educational technology topics at national and international conferences, including ISTE (U.S.), FETC (U.S.), ELMLE (Europe), EARCOS (Asia), and NESA (Asia), as well as organized the international EdTechTeacher iPad Summits in the United States. Tom has also produced a series of online courses on web tool and iPad integration as well as 21st century school leadership and classroom assessment.
A former social studies teacher who instructed in a 1:1 laptop classroom for seven years, Tom has been featured in the Boston Globe for his contributions to teaching with technology and invited to Singapore by the Ministry of Education as an “Outstanding Educator in Residence” in support of efforts to further 21st century learning in schools. Tom is co-author of Best Ideas for Teaching with Technology: A Practical Guide for Teachers by Teachers and iPads in the Classroom: From Consumption and Curation to Creation. His articles on educational technology have appeared in various educational publications such as eSchool News, Daily Genius, and Edudemic. He is the creator of Best of History Web Sites, an award-winning portal, and The Center for Teaching History with Technology, dedicated to helping K-12 history and social studies teachers effectively incorporate technology into their courses.
David Lopez
David is the Senior Manager for the US Edu operations of Actiontec Electronics. He is currently responsible for all education alliances in the United States and is closely working with Microsoft as a partner in wireless display technology. Prior to his work with Actiontec, David was a Microsoft Innovative Educator Fellow, working with school districts around the US on implementing and sustaining Microsoft technologies in the classroom. His work in Hillsborough County Schools in Tampa, FL began as an elementary school teacher and moved to him working as a professional development specialist for the district. He has supported, trained, coached and advocated for teachers around the world. He is a Microsoft Expert Educator, Microsoft Innovative Educator Master Trainer, a SMART Exemplary Educator and has presented and keynoted at both US and international events for Microsoft in Education and Actiontec.
