Self Reflection & Goal Setting (Sept 18, 2022 - 12pm EST)

  • The ability to self learn and self teach is such an important tool as a goaltender. In a position that is severely under coached, it is critical that we are able to look at our own game with objectivity to recognize our own strengths and weaknesses. Once we have a good grasp on where our game is, we can then prepare to set goals. Anyone can set a goal, we will talk about how to develop a plan to actually act on those goals we have set.

Consistency is Key (October 16, 2022 - 12pm)

When you get to a certain level there is not a lot that separates each goaltender skill wise. I can tell you with certainty that I was not even in the top 10 as far as skill on the National Team, but what kept me the starting goalie for over a decade was consistency. My coaches knew what that would get from me every time i stepped out onto the ice and they knew they would be able to count on me in any situation. We will talk about how to create and keep this consistency in your game. Hint - it has more to do with your mental game than what you can do on the ice.

Visualization & Hand Eye (Nov 20, 2022 - 12pm EST)

The mind is a powerful tool that is under-utilized. We can’t always get on the ice as much as we would like. We don’t always have the perfect practice before a big game. This session will provide tools that can help goaltenders prepare using different off ice techniques.

Calling all goalies! Bring your notebooks and ask away. Want to know how the pros prepare? Have a question about your own game? Ever wanted to know what the Olympic Village is like? What the best way to play a 2 on 1 is? The best time to eat a pregame meal? No topic is off limit….ok ok, lets stick to hockey, but otherwise now is the time to ask!

Time Management (Jan 8, 2023 - 12pm est)

Chances are you’re juggling ALOT. School, hockey, family, friends, other sports…. and a list of others i’m sure. This session will provide guidance on how to juggle it all making time for yourself, your friends, your homework, all while staying on top of your game. Time management will be a critical component of your success down the road if you ever plan to play on a college or university team and even more-so if you have dreams of playing on the National Team. Let’s discuss how to keep your ducks in a row and avoid becoming overwhelmed which will effect your on ice, off ice performance, and behaviour.

Performance Under Pressure (Feb 12, 2023 - 12pm EST)

Want to be known as a “big game goalie?” You’ve come to the right spot. This session will discuss ways to prepare for big games. You hear it all the time “shes got nerves of steel” or “he cracks under pressure.” The truth of the matter is that your physical skill and ability doesn’t magically increase or decrease in that game. What determines how you play under pressure is how you prepare and handle the situation. This session will discuss strategies to maximize performance when all eyes are on you.
