What are the competition categories? ÉireGames will feature three divisions, FLINTA Competitive, All Gender Competitive & All Gender Social. Both All Gender divisions will be regulated to ensure fair-play, safety & inclusion.
What rules are being used? Referees will follow the FIBA gameplay rules, with some modifications when it comes to fouls. Games will be two 10 minute halves. More details on game play and rules will be shared to registered teams.
How many players can be on a team? Each team can have a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 12 players.
Will there be awards? Yes! there will be an awards ceremony with medals, trophies, and various player awards to celebrate everyone's involvement.
Is there a dedicated point of contact? Yes, every international team will be assigned a volunteer liaisons person to assist them throughout the tournament.
What social events are planned? We will have an opening and closing ceremony and some fun events during the competiton, be sure to follow us on Social Media to find out more!
Will we receive information before we arrive? All confirmed teams will receive a detailed "Pre-Event Information Pack" including travel guides, venue rules, and local Irish culture tips.
How will leagues be regulated? The All Gendered regulations will balance the number of FLINTA and non-FLINTA players on the court. FLINTA is Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-binary, Trans, and Agender. A team can consist fully of FLINTA players. We will only allow a maximum of 2 non-FLINTA players on the court per team at all times.
What is your safety policy? We operate on a zero-tolerance policy regarding Transphobia, Homophobia, Biphobia, Racism, Discrimination and Sexism. A more detailed safety policy will be distributed to registered teams.
Is the venue accessible? Yes, the venue has accessible facilities for wheelchair users and those with mobility needs.
Venue & Facilities
What facilities are available? The venue has 4 changing rooms with toilets and showers, an accessible toilet and hydration stations.
How do I sign up? Team Captains will need to register their team and players. If you do not have a team captain, you can gather your team-mates and appoint one to register everyone. If you don't have a team, please message us on our socials or email us at irishlgbtbasketball@gmail.com to express your interest to register as an individual.
How much is the registration fee? The fee is €30 per person. Payments must be made as a club, for example: if you have 9 players the fee is €270. There is more information on payment methods in the registration form.
When is the deadline? Registration closes on 30th April 2026, and all payments must be made by 10th May 2026.
What is included in the fee? Teams receive a welcome pack containing a tournament schedule, venue map, wristbands/accreditation, lunch and some exciting goodies!

Welcome to the ÉireGames
ÉireGames is an International Basketball Tournament designed to celebrate Inclusion, Visibility, and Community within Queer Sport. Our mission is to provide a Safe, Competitive, and Empowering environment where LGBTQ+ players, particularly FLINTA athletes, can compete with dignity and joy.
Registration Information
Divisions: FLINTA Competitive, All Gendered Competitive & All Gendered Social.
Team Capacity: Minimum 7 and Maximum of 12 players per team.
Registration Fee: €30 per person (Paid as a club total).
Registration closes on 30th April 2026.
Game Regulations, Safety and Ettiquette
Matches will be regulated with tournament rules to ensure safety to all players, referees and tournament staff. In All Gendered divisions, a maximum of 2 non-FLINTA players will be allowed on the court per team. This rule can be dismissed if both teams can match the number of non-FLINTA players on the court. For example: both teams have 3 non-FLINTA on the court but if one is subbed off, a non-FLINTA from the other team must also be subbed off.
Division Descriptions
The FLINTA division is designed for players who identify as Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-binary, Transgender or Asexual. This division suits players with solid basketball experience, who enjoy fast paced, physical and fun in their competitiveness.
The All Gender Competitive division is designed for players with solid basketball experience, who enjoy fast paced, physical and fun in their competitiveness. Prioritising balanced match ups and enjoyable high intensity play.
The All Gendered Social division is designed for players who prefer a more relaxed, social and participation focused game. With competition still at play, the goal is to have fun, win or lose! The most important thing is team spirit.
Team Places & Availablity
We hope to cater to all teams in EireGames but there are a minimum and maximum amount of teams permitted in each division. A minimum of 4 teams is needed in each division. We will offer availablity for each division as follows:
Competitive Divisions -
8 Teams (4 minimum)
Teams 9th, 10th and 11th placed on a waiting list,
if a 12th team registers, teams 9, 10, 11 and 12 will be registered and we will have a 12 team competition.
Updates regarding waiting list status, pending registrations and competition expansions will be sent via email.
Social Division -
4 Teams (4 minimum)
A 5th team will be placed on a waiting list,
if an 6th team registers, teams 5 and 6 will be registered and we will have a 6 team competition. Same applies with 7th and 8th. 8 teams max in the social division.
Updates regarding waiting list status, pending registrations and competition expansions will be sent via email.
Game Rules
Games follow FIBA rules with the following modifications:
- Games consist of two 10 minute halves each.
- Each team has 1 time out per half
- The game clock will stop if: the ball goes out of bounds / after a basket in the last 2 minutes of the game
Fouls
Players are fouled out after 5 fouls.
1st & 2nd team foul: 1 point to the other team
3rd and 4th team foul: 1 point to the other team and possession of the ball
5th foul onwards: 2 points to the other team and possession of the ball.
These modifications are designed to keep games flowing while reducing excessive contact.
