Activity: Make or draw your own Alibrije! (Then upload a picture to Google Classroom)Alebrijes are mystical beasts represented in Mexican folk art. They were first created by Pedro Linares Lopez in 1906. Mr. Lopez said that these creatures appeared to him in a dream. They are a blend of several animals, for example a tiger with a rabbit's head and eagle's claws. Alebrijes are always painted with brightly colored patterns. Traditional Alebrijes are usually made out of cardboard, paper mache, or wood. If you've seen the movie Coco you have seen Alibrijes (Dante the winged dog, and Pepita the lion sheep dragon).
