If you have an object that tells part of the Shaker Heights story, get in touch with us! We accept journals, event programs, photos, letters, maps, objects, and more. Our collection is made up of valuable and important donations from people like you. The Shaker Heights community has been gracious donors to the museum and has shaped our exhibits and archives. While we are unable to accept every object due to limited space and collecting guidelines, we give each offer thoughtful consideration and are thrilled when we can fill in gaps in our current collection.
Have a piece of Shaker Heights history? Please send a photograph and short description to director@shakerhistory.org or stop by the museum 11am-5pm on Wednesday-Friday to speak with the director!
The style and process of recordkeeping has changed many times since the Shaker Historical Society's founding in 1947. Unfortunately, some donors were not recorded, donations were left anonymously, or records have been taken, disposed of, or lost over time.
The Shaker Historical Society is beginning of a collection-wide inventory to not only assess what we have but also reconnect objects with their donors, accession records, and history.
