Things on the agenda this week:

  • Begin working on the R&J blame essay. Review the assignment sheet here.
    • You'll have 2 weeks to work on this -- the final due date is Sunday, May 24.
    • WE WILL DO OPTIONAL PEER EDITING ON THIS ESSAY. I think this will be helpful! Here's how it will work...
      • By Friday, 5/15 at 4pm, you will share your essay draft with me.
      • I will then email you someone else's essay along with the peer editing document. I'll let you know who is receiving your essay, as well.
      • You will have until Monday at 4pm to peer edit the essay you've received and email the essay and peer editing document back to them with comments.
      • Then, you will have until Sunday, 5/24 at midnight to submit the revised draft.

  • Watch this video to begin The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. In this video, I walk you through some background information and read chapter 1 of the book. Here's a link to the slides I'm discussing in the video.
  • Read chapters 2-15 of True Diary. (I know, it sounds like a lot, but the book is VERY easy to read and will go by quickly. Space yourself out, though. DON'T read it all on Sunday! Then, it'll be a chore!)
    • These chapters are on pages 7-113 in the physical book. If you're using the PDF (linked on Classroom), it ends at page 96. Stop when you get to "Rowdy Gives Me Advice About Love."
  • Go to the appropriate Flipgrid below and create a video response to the question! Feel free to watch your classmates' videos and respond to them, too.

OPTIONAL: Due by 4pm on Friday, 5/15:

  • Email me your blame essay draft for peer editing.

REQUIRED: Due by midnight on Sunday, 5/17:

  • Submit FlipGrid video response about chapters 1-15 of True Diary.

  • Read chapters 16-30 of True Diary. (I know, it sounds like a lot, but the book is VERY easy to read and will go by quickly. Space yourself out, though. DON'T read it all on Sunday! Then, it'll be a chore!)
    • These chapters are on pages 114-230 in the physical book. If you're using the PDF (linked on Classroom), it starts on page 96 at "Rowdy Gives Me Advice About Love" and ends on page 192.

I miss you all SO much. Thank you for making this such a wonderful year, even if we only got to spend 3/4 of it together in person. You better come say hi when we're back at school!

Keep me posted on what you're up to this summer. Have fun, stay safe, and I'll (hopefully) see you soon! šŸ¤
