On this page you'll find my reflections on the work we're doing as well as odd posts about my cat & the new kitten (and maybe my daughters). If you have any questions, I can always be reached via email (baynel@sgusd.net).
Just like my students, I'm apprehensive about what this school year is going to be like. When my worries overwhelm me, I remind myself that even though there are huge changes, I control how I respond to them. With my students, I hope to build an amazing community of learners and thinkers. A place where hard questions are asked and honest answers are given. A place where risks are taken and mistakes are celebrated. See you soon!

Earlier today (4/4), Godiva discovered that she can't eat chicken nuggets. I had to give her tuna to make her feel better.
It's been a busy week for Godiva.
Thoroughly exhausted after making herself briefly known to my 8th grade students, Godiva took a long nap on Friday afternoon. I understand her exhaustion, it's been a long week as we all adapt to a new way of doing "school." Having worked as an study abroad adviser before moving back to California and ultimately getting my teaching credential, I recognized this exhaustion. I felt something similar whenever I moved abroad. Its source: the stress of adapting to a new way of learning or doing. I think of it as learning shock.
Regardless, my students rose to the challenge and impressed the heck out of me. I'm so proud of their sensitivity and the effort they're putting into their educations.
