K-2 Discipline Policy

Primary Behavior Plan

We want to maintain an environment of learning for everyone and encourage everyone to use good manners, be respectful and be responsible. When one child’s behavior is affecting their classmates’ learning experience, we need to take steps to help that child manage his or her behavior. Each child has a choice card that is carried to every class, every day. On the back of each card are virtue marks to be a positive incentive for each child.

Below are some unacceptable behaviors and may be a reason for the Choice Card mark.

Biting

Destruction of Property

Excessive Talking/Shouting Out

Not following directions after repeated reminders

Hitting a teacher or student

Inappropriate Language

Lack of respect for authority figures

Talking back to an authority figure

Throwing objects in the classroom

Inappropriate restroom behaviors, including looking over/under stalls, shouting, playing in the sink, etc.

Inappropriate recess/cafeteria behaviors, including not following directions after repeated reminders, inappropriate language, throwing/playing with food, inappropriate touching, etc.
